The Road to Austin Cemetery

Even if you have a Map of Sumner County showing Austin Cemetery, you may not be able to find it. It is a very small cemetery reached only after a couple turns in the road, both of which are after the rise you saw in the road. The road to the cemetery

Turn right when you come to the first fork. It will take you along a lot of trees, which hide a creek. You will make a 90 degree left turn after a while...keep going... and eventually you will come to this:

Back up! You need to go in the back gate.

Once in, pass all the burials and turn left and park. Then, you will be facing the Earliest Hoisington plot - Known burials here are Zilpha Gross Hoisington and her son Harry (wife and son of Franklin Benjamin Hoisington). Right next to them is W.E. Hoisington. This may be William Ellis Hoisington, also a son of Franklin B, although he is listed as "born 1879" in "Hoisingtons in America". There is an unmarked burial to the left of the tree (next to the road), which may be the burial of Jesse Hoisington, Franklin's father.

Thomas Jefferson Hoisington plot - This area is south and west of the earlier plot. Known burials here are T. J. and his wife, Mary Delena, Fred Francis Hoisington & his wife Rebecca Ate , Milton Edgar Hoisington, and an unnamed daughter of T.J. and Mary Delena. Behind this burial is another, unmarked female infant burial.
