Adoption 1:

RE: Chancy Hoisington/Hisington/Hissington
Ms. Hulliberger
I have researched our records for the above adoption
record, however, I have
found no records. Perhaps an adoption occurred in
another county or may
have never been confirmed. Also, please note that
it appears our records
begin in 1880 due to prior records were destroyed by
fire.
Sincerely,
Sue A. Gilbert
Juvenile Register
Philemon and Elizabeth lived in Shiawassee Co. in
1855 (deed saids that when
they bought the land in Montcalm Co.,) Chancy was
born in April 1856 to
1859 sometime. This would mean Philemon was living
in Montcalm Co., by
Chancy's birth date. The records were not recorded
or burned by fire is my
guess. At least we have Elizabeth's will that
states that Chancy was
adopted. Rumor has it that it may be "Decker"
according to one grandma on
our line. (that is if the person remembers the name
her grandma gave to
her.) My thought is it is "Decker."
