From the 1877 Winnebago County History:
Hoisington, Rev. Chester, Sec. 26; P.O. Winnebago; born in N.Y., in 1808;
came to this co. in 1844; owns 100 acres land; has held offices of
Justice
of the Peace and School Director; was licensed to preach as a minister in
the M.E. Church in 1843; he was afterwards ordained at Dixon; he preached
the first sermon in what is now known as the Hoisington Church; married
Lucy Wheeler in 1830; she was born in Vt.
Chester, died May 17, 1884, age 76y 1mo 4da
Lucy L. d. Aug 21, 1893, age 90.
Hawes, L.K. Wheeler, 1836-1886; Anna, 1859-1887; Rose Hawes Smith,
1864-1929
Chester and
Lucy deeded their property over to D.C. Lewis, of Winnebago on condition
that he and his wife be cared for during their life. Sweeny, the adopted
son of Rev.
H. is left to shirk for himself without any part of the property. (This
