Occupation:
He and his uncle Stephen Hastings made the brick used to construct the Court House at Windsor. He then learned the trade of Blacksmith with another uncle, Zenas Hastings at Brownsville VT. Following that apprentiship worked in the car shops in Windsor and in the Sharps Rifle Shops at Hartford CT. He returned to Brownsville and served the community as blacksmith until his death.

Disability cited as rheumatism, varicose veins of both legs and general debility. Also chronic diarrhea and injury to left leg and knee.
It appears that his initial application was rejected due to insufficient documentation of service-related cause. It also appears that his application was re-submitted and was then approved after a declaration was filed 18 Nov 1887.
