On this 25th day of July A.D. 1832 personally appeared in openCourt before the Probate Court for the District of Hartford in saidCounty of Windsor now sitting, Ebenezer Hoisington formerly EbenezerHoisington Junior a resident of Windsor in the County of Windsor andState of Vermont aged 79 years who being first duly sworn accordingto Law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order toobtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832 Thathe entered the service of the United States under the following namedofficers and served as herein stated. That he entered in sd serviceat Windsor Vermont in Capt. John Grants Company Lieut Burkham &the Hon'l Wm. Hunter, formerly a member of Congress was orderlysergeant of sd Company at that time he entered for five months andimmediately marched to Crown Point NY & from theence to St. Johns& Montreal after the said term expired the Company was disbandedat Montreal & he returned to said Windsor that immediately afterhis return to Windsor he again enlisted into the service of theUnited States in said Capt. Grants Company Said Wm Hunter being theLieut of sd Company Some time the later part of January 1776 for fivemonths and marched the 4th day of February following & joined theContinental army at Montreal & from there marched near Quechee& there remained till the army retreated which was about the 6thday of May 177_ at the time of sd retreate he was stationed on theIsland of Orleans below Quebec that the retreat was slow to CrownPoint when the troops to which he belonged were disbanded Some timein the month of July following In both of the aforesaid campaigns hewas attached to Col. Seth Warners Regiment That during the lastmentioned campaign he served as an orderly sergeant of his sdCompany. He further says that some time about the middle ofSeptember 1777 he volunteered in the Vermont militia and was at thetaking of Burgoine & was out in the service 34 days this lasttime He does not recollect the officers names under whom he servedthis last time. That he resided in Windsor in said County of Windsorat the several times he entered sd service & that heas residedthere ever since to the present time. That he has no documentaryevidence of his said service nor does he know of any persons whosetestimony he can provide who can testify to the same except thepersons whose affidavidts are hereto appended. That he was born inFarmingtown in Connecticut on the 23rd of September 1752. He doesnot know that his age is recorded any where That he has been inWindsor and the County of Windsor & State of Vermont since therevolution. He hereby relinquishes his every claim whatever to apension or annuity except the present and declares that his name isnot on the pension roll of any agency of any state.
