Elsie H. Miller
Elsie Hoisington Miller, 91, died April 1, 2001, in Soldotna, Alaska.
She was born Jan. 22, 1910, in Wakeeney, Kan., the daughter of Harry Leroy and Lucy Deaver Hoisington. Elsie married Ted E. Miller on Feb. 21, 1938, in North Star, Neb. They moved to Cody the same month and he began working for L.K. Johnson. Ted died Aug. 2, 1967, in Cody. Elsie married Carroll Miller on Nov. 24, 1976, in Huntsville, Ala. Carroll died Jan. 31, 1993, in Cody.
Elsie taught school in Nebraska and Wyoming. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, sister and friend. She shared her joys with many people who loved her in many ways.
She sang songs, recited poems, baked cookies, gave great hugs and was often seen patting the arm of friends in love, joy and sympathy. Elsie enjoyed quilting, embroidery, crochet, making pansy cards and other crafts.
Her family will always celebrate and cherish the time they were privileged to spend with her.
Survivors include eight step-children, Ronnie Miller of Hastings, Neb., Loren Miller of New Market, Ala., Linnet and spouse Don McGoodwin of Sheridan, Janice and Don Erwin of Kenai, Alaska, Maxine and Gary Mougeot of East Helena, Mont., Joan Miller of Helena, Connie Miller of Spokane, and Ernie and Julie Miller of Cody, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and sister Alice Lambert.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Ballard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Barbee officiating. Internment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions in her memory to the Methodist Willing Workers, Irma Flat Mothers Club or Cody Senior Citizens Center.
