The Reverend Forrest W. Hoisington, retired member of the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church, died suddenly December 30, 1970.

The Rev. Dr. Hoisington was born in West Salem, Wisconsin, April 13, 1898. He attended the Tomah, Wisconsin High School and his schools for advanced training were Lawrence College and Harvard Divinity School.

Dr. Hoisington served United Methodist parishes in Onalaska, Wisconsin (1924-27); River Falls, Wisconsin (1927-32); Princeton, Illinois (1932-35); Cuyler Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois (1935-38); Elgin, First, Elgin, Illinois (1938-44); Embury Church, Freeport, Illinois (1944-46); Superintendent of the Joliet Dixon District from 1946 through 1952; First Church in DeKalb, Illinois (1952-55); First Church in Geneva, Illinois (1955-63).

The funeral service was conducted Saturday, January 2, 1971 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Aurora, Illinois.

Forrest Hoisington and Miriam Nuzum were united in marriage on June 21, 1924, the day following his graduation from seminary. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Gordon White, Huntsville, Alabama; Mrs. Kenneth Johnson, Aurora, Illinois; and Mrs. Thomas Webster, Columbus, Ohio, and seven grandchildren.

Optimistic by nature, Dr. Hoisington was plagued by heart trouble the last twenty years of his life. However, he continued to perform his duties with great devotion and cheerfulness and good humor. He was an able preacher, administrator, musician and pastor.
