"Disappeared", actually ran away with another woman,; Hailsboro, St. Lawrence, NY The dates of his "disappearance" were Oct 1877 - Apr 1878. Hannah stated in a declaration that he was in poor health and would sometimes leave home for days and nights and that the last she saw or heard from him was October 1877, although their daughter said that he returned home for a few months because he was sick and then left again.

Marriage performed by Rev. James T. Jackson, Baptist minister. Linda stated in her pension application that she thought Hannah was dead at the time of her marriage. However, depositions from Lewis and Julia Hoisington indicated that she was quite aware that Hannah was still alive.
