Aged Blackwell Man's Funeral Held Monday
Blackwell-Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for J.J. Lundy, Blackwell's oldest resident, thought to have been the oldest man in Kay county at the time of his death. Lundy died at his home, 705 South Main street, Sunday morning following a several days' illness. If he had lived until next July 20, he would have been 100 years old.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. M.G. Jobe, former pastor of the local Nazarene Church, assisted by the Rev. R.B. Gilmore, present pastor. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery by the side of his wife, who died in April, 1927.
Lundy was the oldest of a family of 12 children, only one of whom is still living. He is survived by eight of his family of 11 children, 16 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. The six sons of Lundy who are living are J.P. Lundy, Blackwell; Leonard A. Lundy, Edmond; Dr. Rutherford B. Lundy, Wallace, Idaho; Dr. Robert Lundy, Kennewick, Washington; Ross P. Lundy, Arkansas City; and the oldest son, Jackson Lundy, Onarga, Illinois. The two daughters now living are Mrs. Ada McCullom, who lived with her father, and Mrs. Kate Michaels, of Ottawa, Kansas.

BURROW
Eunice "Shorty" Burrow, 2405 Cardinal, died Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was 87.
Born Sept. 25, 1899 in Tecumseh, Indian Territory, he was the son of James D. and Illia Burrow.
He attended schools in Tecumseh and upon graduating from high school entered East Central State College at Ada. He was appointed to the Student Army Training Corps.
He and the former Irene A. Ewton were married June 23, 1919 in Tecumseh. The couple came to Ponca City in October of 1919, where he worked for Louis Barnes in the grocery department until he establed his own grocery store at 108 East Grand in 1925. In 1937 he build a new building at the corner of Grand and Fifth Avenue. He operated at that location until selling it in 1948. Burrow then went to work as an auditorfor the state insurance fund. He also owned the Hobby Hour Stable with fine harness three-gaited and five-gaited horses which he trained and showed. His hobbies were golf and gardening.
Mr. Burrow was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was instrumental in establishing the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce, and was a former member of the Kiwanis' Club. He was a life member of the Huff-Minor American Legion Post No. 14, and the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the American Rose Society.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, of the home; two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren, one nephew and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Shirley L. Rector.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Van House, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of E.M. Trout and Sons Funeral Directors.
Members of Huff-Minor American Legion Post No. 14 will provide the graveside flag-folding detail.
Casketbearers will be Larry Hughes, Dwight Huth, Burgess Shriver, Bill Stingley, Jay Morris and Bill Thomason. Honorary casketbearers will be Tom Graham, Joe Kotarski, Graydon Brown, Ivan Berger, Herman Smith, Frank Searcy, Harry Ames and Jerry Orr.
The casket will be closed following the service, however, friends may call at the funeral home until 12 noon Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the first United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, or to the American Heart Association.
The family will be at the home on Cardinal.

Maud R. Burrow Rites Wednesday, March 9, 1971 Ponca City News Mrs. Maud R. Burrow, 74, widow of Noel A. Burrow, died Monday afternoon at the Ponca City Hospital following a long illness.
Mrs. Burrow was born in Tecumseh on Sept. 22, 1896, and received her education there. She was married to Noel Burrow at Tecumseh on Feb. 14, 1921, and they moved to Ponca City.
Burrow was in the grocery business for a number of years and then joined Continental Oil Company in 1957. He died Feb. 28, 1964.
Surviving her are a son, Dr. John Burrow (Ponca); a brother, John L. Arrington, Pawhuska; three nieces, Mrs. Allen B. Cortright (Ponca), Mrs. Mildred Bowe, Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs Don Rector (Ponca)[see Eunice Obit for Shirley Rector, deceased]; a nephew, John L. Arrington Jr., Tulsa; and two grandchildren Jeff and Jacqueline Burrow, children of Dr. John Burrow (Ponca).
